What’s this all about?

My perspective is informed by my background. In 1986, my dad bought a Macintosh 512E and a few years later taught me to program with Logo. The next major turning point was choosing a specialty at the end of my second year of engineering studies at the University of Toronto. I chose structural over computer engineering, not because I had lost interest in programming, but because I knew that I would never learn the structural discipline on my own. Having picking up some Pascal, Java and C over the years, I was confident that I had enough basics to keep growing.

After about 12 years practicing as a structural engineer in Toronto, Paris, London and Montreal, I came back to the world of software, and for the past few years I have been leading software development teams at Arup, development software for engineering analysis, collaboration and communication.

The opinions I share here are my own, and not those of my employer!
